Rigid shaftless spiral conveyors

Simplify your process with long-lasting, low-maintenance conveyors

Applications

Rigid shaftless spiral conveyors (Types ST, STN) are designed for high conveying capacities (up to 600 m³/h). These conveyors are specifically designed for handling highly abrasive materials (such as gravel, sand, rocks, abrasive dust, slag, etc.), materials in larger pieces (PET bottles, wood, sawdust, paper, biomass, etc.), wet or sticky substances (waste, soil, bentonite, reprocessed materials, etc.), and very fine materials (food powders, chemicals, ash, etc.).

Built for any challenge

A properly designed and installed shaftless spiral conveyor often solves challenging material handling tasks, especially in cases where other conveying methods are unsuitable. For extreme load conditions (long conveying distances, high material density, etc.), massive spirals consisting of two or three combined profiles can be used. The shaftless spirals can be up to 40 mm thick, with diameters up to 750 mm. Thanks to the high quality of these robust spirals, various types of conveyors can be produced: push or pull conveyors, horizontally connected or vertical shaftless spiral conveyors that can replace classic bucket elevators. The maximum length of rigid conveyors depends on the transported material and can reach up to 55 meters. Vertical conveyors can reach a height of up to 25 meters using a single drive unit.

Flexible material transport

Shaftless spiral conveyors are an excellent alternative to screw, bucket, or pneumatic conveyors, as they offer virtually no spatial limitations when redirecting the flow of transported material. Many technologies make use of intermediate hoppers, horizontal and vertical inlets and outlets, vertical transport between levels, and long-distance bulk material movement. When designing a new technological line, they allow for a more compact layout, better use of production space, and easier resolution of material transport path issues during upgrades or reconstructions—making shaftless spiral conveyors often one of the best choices.

Custom sollutions

The equipment can be supplied with various electric gearboxes: cylindrical, helical, bevel-helical, or flat gearboxes. Shaftless spirals are made from steel types ST 37 or ST 52, or from stainless steel (AISI 304, AISI 316, AISI 316L, AISI 316T). For handling extremely abrasive materials, very hard materials like Hardox (up to 400 Brinell hardness) are used, or hard metal and metal plates are welded onto the spiral surface. In addition to classic steel, stainless steel, or plastic, polyamide or basalt liners can be inserted into the conveyor pipes.

Shaftless spiral conveyors are designed and manufactured for a wide range of industries: food, chemical, plastics, energy, heavy industry, agriculture, wood processing, environmental, pharmaceutical, and more.

Materials used:

  • For the spiral: Type ST – steel (ST 37, ST 52); Type STN – stainless steel (AISI 304, AISI 316, AISI 316L, and AISI 316T)

  • For the piping system: Type ST – steel (ST 37, ST 52); Type STN – stainless steel (AISI 304, AISI 316)
